Amazing Teachers

Even though I'm cheating by not totally paying attention in class, I'm impressed that there are so many good teachers in my district. We just had a lesson by kindergarten teachers using the book, "Mary Wore Her Red Dress" by Merle Peek. I realize that the title of the book should be underlined, but I couldn't figure out how to do this before the next presentation started. The teachers that presented their lesson had taken our pictures the day before. After reading the story, discussing the idea of patterns in reading, we were given art supplies and asked to use ourselves as a page out of the story. Children would love to personalize their artwork with their picture and share with other kids in class. My lesson was a collaborative effort with a drama and art teacher. We had our adult "students" create a biography of a hero and then draw a costume using croquis and colored pencils. Our drama teacher in the group appeared as Indiana Jones. This is the last day of class and even though I'm impressed with fellow educators, I'm definately more impressed with the fact that is the last day.
